Legislation on real estate acquisition

According to the law on real estate acquisition, it is possible, as a foreigner to purchase a property in Germany. As a buyer you must be of legal age, i.e. have completed 18 years

of age. You do not need a residence permit in Germany, because for the purchase of real estate in Germany, unlike in some other countries, there are no restrictions as to the origin of the person. However, one also cannot easily change one's residence permit status through the acquisition of property. It is not the case that by real estate acquisition by foreigners in Germany the purchaser receives a right of residence in Germany, which he has not previously possessed. However, there is the possibility to obtain a residence permit by investing and founding a company in Germany. We are pleased to in-depth inform you on this topic at a personal consultation.

This favorable legal framework for foreigners is - amongst others - the reason for both foreign individuals and many foreign real estate funds to buy real estate in Germany.

In addition, of course, the comparatively low prices and strong market position and its positive performance are crucial for many foreigners deciding to invest in Germany and especially Berlin.

Other laws around the area of real estate can be found at www.ibr-online.de.
